Mathematical Sciences Problem Solving Math Club

The Mathematics Problem Solving Club at Rensselaer meets weekly to work on challenging mathematical problems. The club is focused on working and discussing problems such as those found on math competions as well as other interesting problems suggested by students and faculty.

We would like to invite students of all majors to join the Mathematical Sciences Problem Solving Math Club.

The club meets Wednesday's at 5 - 7 in Amos Eaton 411. All students are invited to join us.

The students participating in the Mathematics Problem Solving Club participate in the Putnam Competition on the first Saturday of December every year. Three students from Rensselaer are chosen in advance and their combined score gives a score for the School. Our rankings for the past few years is shown below.

  • 2004 Competition: The Rensselaer team ranked 19th of 411 participating schools.
Team: Dan Erb, Raju Krishnamoorthy, Tom Zink
  • 2005 Competition: The Rensselaer team ranked 88th of 500 participating schools.
Team: Igor Zhitnitsky, Tom Zink, Tim Lee

If you have any questions, feel free to contact Bruce Piper or Dacia Moore.
